I have both Sony 200-600 @ 70-200 lens's not really worth using on the 200-600mm but on the 70-200 the results are good, hardly deterioration of the image

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and took it out as soon as I could to give it a try. I am well pleased with the performance of the SAL20TC, optically it is top notch and it’s construction is first class. When I considered purchasing an extender I was sold on the fact that af was maintained but when I attached it to my SAL70400G2 lens I found it was manual focus only. This has not put me off using the extender and I see it as a minor set back hence why I have only given it 4 stars. Sony only make quality equipment.

I plan to use this 2X teleconverter exclusively with a Sony 70-200mm F2.8 GM lens. I've already tested the combination and have been very pleased with the results. There's little, if any, noticeable reduction in image quality and the colour rendition is superb.

The loss of light is a drag, but doubling reach is well worth it. Pairing with the 200-600 is great for wildlife. I take my dogs with me on all my outdoor activities and this combo allows me shoot things before they run off. There may be a loss of detail but I haven't really noticed it. What I notice more is motion blur from trying to hold steady with the increased focal length and slower shutter speeds due to the loss of light. But I think it's well worth it to get that extra reach.

Nur wenige Alpha-Objektive können rein mechanisch überhaupt diesen Konverter nutzen. Das SAL70400G, das grundsätzlich mit diesem Konverter arbeiten kann, verliert den Autofokus, so dass nur noch manuell fokussiert werden kann. Extrem negativ ist, dass die neuen ILCE-7 Vollformatkameras überhaupt nicht unterstützt werden. Hier funktioniert nicht einmal die Blendensteuerung. Schade. Optisch ist der Konverter gut.

Better then other teleconverters

I use this with my Sony 300mm f/2.8 lens. If I had written this review a year ago I would have not given a favorable review. Teleconverters are hard to use and get good results. I have learned to take my time and trust my histograms and make needed exposure adjustments. Then it works well.
