Perfect all in one camera!

I have had a lot of different cameras over the years from film SLR's to DSLR's and Mirrorless cameras plus a few bridge style cameras, the best being the Fuji XS-1 which had a 2/3" sensor 12mp with a 24-624mm f2.8/5.6 fixed zoom lens and was almost my perfect camera, if only it had better AF and a larger sensor. Then along came the Sony RX10 series which seemed to full fill my requirements except that they were very expensive. Anyway, I recently saw a second hand Sony RX10iv in mint condition, so I traded in all my Olympus mirrorless gear and bought it, best thing I ever did. Yes the camera is quite heavy some would say but no more so than my old cameras with interchangeable lenses. Now I don't have to carry multiple lenses or decide which lens to put on because the Zeiss lens on the Sony is a incredible 24-600mm similar to my old Fuji but the sharpness is astounding throughout the whole range which covers absolutely everything I could want, from macro, to wide angle to super telephoto. The camera is also extremely well made and has a quality feel to it, I really don't have anything negative to say about it.

je n'utilise que des bridges depuis 2003 (Canon puis Panasonic). Important : je ne suis pas un professionnel mais juste un amateur "éclairé" qui connaît donc bien les bridges. En général, pour moi, le contenu des photos a beaucoup plus d'importance que leur contenant, c'est-à-dire la qualité. Enfin je comparerai évidemment à ceux que j'ai déjà possédé. Mon utilisation essentielle : sports, paysages, macro et animaux. J'utilise peu la vidéo. D'abord, le mode d'emploi : l'usine à gaz (mais c'est la généralité un peu partout y compris chez panasonic) probablement conçu par des personnes à la tête bien pleine mais pas du tout structurée donc très compliquée. Pas d'index, pas de table des matières, pas d'explications des termes avant d'aborder le mode d'emploi proprement dit, etc. En gros (j'exagère à peine) ils balancent en vrac tous les paragraphes dans le tas de fumier et débrouille-toi!... Mais il y a quand même (incroyable!) des numéros de pages, on croit rêver... Ils ont sûrement fait appel à la fameuse "expérience utilisateur"!? Ou comment cacher son incompétence derrière des expressions pompeuses et fumeuses. Mon avant-dernier bridge était le panasonic fz-1000 : les gains du Sony par rapport à celui-ci sont minces si l'on prend en compte la différence de prix. Donc ce que j'en pense : - les menus sont à l'image du mode d'emploi : à quand des menus personnalisables où l'on pourrait choisir ce que l'on désire visible (ce qui n'est pas difficile!) ou, au moins, par exemple, trois niveaux de menu : simple, avancé, expert? - pour un bridge, une très bonne qualité d'image en basse lumière, première chose que je teste pour savoir ce que vaut un bridge (et pas dans les conditions "parfaites" des tests qui pullulent sur internet ou dans les magazines). - il est censé être tropicalisé mais j'ai de très gros doutes. - l'excellent mode rafale qui tient longtemps si je compare au z1000, ça dépote avec un bon résultat. - un zoom qui n'a rien d'extraordinaire par rapport au z1000 car si celui-ci plafonne à 400, sa fonction i-zoom permet d'atteindre 800 avec quasiment aucune différence dans la qualité. Il y a bien un peu la même fonction sur le sony mais je la trouve peu performante. - je trouve le stabilisateur optique moins bon que le panasonic. - pour ceux qui ont goûté à l'écran articulé des panasonic, je suppose qu'ils trouvent que celui de sony est une authentique plaisanterie? - j'adore les bagues d'autant plus qu'elles réagissent relativement correctement. - Le viseur est de très bonne facture et sans lenteurs. - je suppose que tout le monde a déjà hurlé (valable chez toutes les marques) contre les boutons sans relief quand on a les yeux dans le viseur? - je trouve que le poids lourd qu'il est est un avantage qui permet de bien le tenir surtout quand le temps est agité. - toujours pas de gps à ce prix mais peut-être aurait-il trop tiré sur la batterie? C'est pourtant tellement pratique intégré à l'appareil. En tout cas j'aurai préféré ça au wifi. - il ne faut pas oublier qu'il est très complet pour un bridge mêm si, comme tout le monde, on n'utilise que 20 à 30 % de ses fonctionnalité. Pour conclure, je dirais qu'il a une bonne optique, qu'il est complet mais qu'il est peu pratique (pour un bridge) d'autant plus que le mode d'emploi et les menus n'aident vraiment pas à le maîtriser. Bref c'est comme le matériel russe : complet et costaud mais il y a trop de manettes...

Würde mir für alle meine Sony Kameras eine Creator App für alle Kameras wünschen. für deses Model muß ich leider eine etra App nutzen. Bitte nachbessern, dann gibt es für einen zufriedenden Sony Nutzer für dieses Produkt auch 5 Sterne.

Il ne propose qu'un Chatbot inopérant , inefficace. Lamentable de la part de Sony. J'ai d'autres appareils Sony, je croise les doigts pour qu'ils ne tombent pas en panne.

Un bloc note très pratique avec une belle qualité d'image malgré un petit capteur. La focale courte équivalente à 24 mm pourrait être un peu plus courte, mais l'équivalent 600 mm de la focale la plus longue est très satisfaisant. Quand je n'utilise qu'un seul appareil en déplacement très léger, c'est celui-ci. Le diaphragme manuel est un autre plus que l'on a que sur quelques objectifs de la gamme A.

J'étais Lumix depuis 20 ans avec une immense satisfaction (mon dernier à 10ans et est comme neuf ... de 10 ans en arrière !), mais faute de nouveauté, je me suis penché sur ce qui se faisait de bien chez d'autres. Les Numériques m'ont amené à ce produit et j'y retrouve le Lumix mais avec les bénéfices de 10 ans de progrès informatique. J'ai changé des optiques Leica pour du Zeiss, donc aussi bien. Seul regret, mais je le savais en commandant, l'écran du Lumix qui est bien plus mobile et se retourne pour que l'écran soit protégé des chocs lorsque l'appareil n'est pas utilisé.

Canon digital shooter since 2001, currently using 5D4 and 5DS-R with all the glass from 8mm to 600mm. If you're familiar with photography and cameras, this little gem will produce some great images for you. And so light compared to a full DSLR setup. Great option for traveling or if you just want to go light. Highly recommended!

I bought this camera about a month ago and have been getting up to speed with it since then. It offers so much without having to lug heavy lenses around. It is very good value for money. The images are of excellent quality. I sometimes find the image in the viewfinder doesn't accurately reflect the image taken - but that might be my eyesight! Also, I'm still finding my way around the macro functions, which seems to work well in some situations but not in others. I haven't ready the manual fully yet so, some of my issues might be because I'm not familiar with this camera's many functions.

I have had at various times all the bridge cameras that nikon have made. The RX 10 is much better than all of them. The quality of photos is really good. I use it mainly for birds and comparing the result to a dslr and 150- 600mm lens it is equal to or better and this from a camera that is lighter to carry. It is quite complicated to set up initially as you have so many options but with there are many Internet guides. It is worth persevering

A top quality bridge camera for wildlife

I bought this last week, having come from a Nikon D7200. With a sigma 150- 400 lens that I was fed up carrying around. The Zeis lens is superb for capturing stationery birds and birds in flight when set up correctly with settings saved to the M1/2/3 slot for easy access . With a zoom range going from 24mm wide angle ideal for landscapes to 600mm for those distance shots at 35mm equivalent. The auto focus tracking is superb and coupled with continuous shooting from 3fps to 24fps you can't go wrong . The only downside is the very poor battery life. Sony claim between 370 to 400 shots depending on settings. On my first outing with a fully charged battery at 100% it dropped to 25% with only 170 jpeg images . After another full charge, turning off WiFi, Bluetooth etc this improved , but I really feel the battery is it's archiles heel . I would expect 600 shots Min in raw format and more in jpeg. That said it's a superb piece of kit that will satisfy all but the most critical users . The other negative is it's now discontinued and pricey at around £1499 retail depending on dealer . But, where else would you get this fantastic usability go anywhere camera for this money .

Recently purchased as I wanted the convenience of a bridge camera in place of DSLR with multiple lenses. Very pleased so far, but it is early days and a lot to learn. However I am sure patience will be rewarded. One tip would be to purchase Photographers Guide to Sony DSC-RX10 1V by Alexander S White which is a useful tool in the learning process.

So many options/settings/buttons, but bought a book to help me along, and starting to grips with it. But still lots to learn. I didn't want to carry around loads of lenses, and mostly used to compact cameras and my mobile. But I wanted to be able to zoom in a reasonable amount without needing a tripod, and this is a great alternative.

It does everything I need - and the zoom is insane

I have just traded in my Canon R8 and multiple lenses, as I was either having to lug around a massive rucksack with every lens in it, or take just one lens to do some shooting. So I either broke my back or had the 'wrong' lens with me. Now, all of that is eliminated. I just take this light camera with me wherever I go. Yes, in low light there is sometimes a bit of noise in the image, but with post processing software nowadays being so good at removing it (should it be wished), I don't care about noise any more. This is a brilliant general purpose camera. And yes it was launched in 2017 (it's now 2025) so could be considered to be ancient, but it has many of the capabilities of current cameras - showing how far ahead of its time it was at launch. I love it. And you will too. Happy shooting!

Die Sony RX10 IV ist eine außergewöhnliche Kamera, die sowohl für ambitionierte Hobbyfotografen als auch für professionelle Anwender geeignet ist. Sie kombiniert eine hervorragende Bildqualität, ein vielseitiges Zoomobjektiv und eine beeindruckende Geschwindigkeit in einem kompakten Gehäuse. Der Preis ist zwar hoch, aber für die gebotene Leistung und Flexibilität ist er gerechtfertigt. Allerdings gibt es einige Schwachstellen: Der veraltete Micro-USB-Anschluss und das fehlende Ladegerät sind ärgerliche Entscheidungen, die den Komfort beeinträchtigen. Wer nach einer All-in-One-Lösung sucht, die sowohl für Fotos als auch für Videos geeignet ist, wird mit der RX10 IV dennoch kaum enttäuscht sein – vorausgesetzt, man ist bereit, in ein separates Ladegerät zu investieren 😊.

J'ai acheté ce bridge pour remplacer mon Lumix FZ300 qui commençait à avoir quelques défaillances. Grosse différence de poids (+ de 400 gr) et de conception que je vais devoir gérer...sachant que son utilisation principale sera celle de la photo animalière avec le port de l'appareil à bout de bras et le besoin d'une réactivité efficace. Mes premiers tests divers et variés sont plutôt positifs avec une (très) bonne qualité d'image avec ou sans flash voir photo d'un geai naturalisé prise justement au flash ! Je continue à me plonger dans les méandres de la bête à l'aide d'un excellent livre réalisé par Alexander S. White consacré à ce bridge. Après avoir posssédé un RX10M3, j'ai acheté ce modèle M4 le mois dernier et, ses performances sont encore améliorées. Le M4 est plus rapide que le M3 à la mise sous tension, aux différentes mises au point. Il voit ses limites lorsque le manque de lumière se fait sentir à cause de son capteur 1", mais cela reste très convenable; Son rapport poids / performances est magnifique. Lors d'une excursion, pour éviter de le sortir de son sac et de le rentrer en permanence, on peut l'accrocher à une des sangles de son sac à dos avec le système d'attache rapide Peak design clip V3. L'objectif n'étant pas démontable, ne pas oublier d'ajouter une lentille de proctection de 72 mm sur l'objectif pour le protéger d'un choc ou d'une rayure.

Je l'ai acheté il y a une quinzaine de jours . J'étudie tous les jours les fonctionnalités. C'est dommage de ne pas avoir plus de vidéos d'explications permettant d'exploiter les différentes possibilités. Pour quelqu'un de novice, c'est l'usine à gaz et le site de Sony est limité en explications. Il me faudra beaucoup de temps pour arriver à maîtriser . Je n'arrive pas à connecter l'appareil photo avec mon smartphone .

This camera was recommended by someone posting fabulous pictures online, with very little to no post-processing. So far I've done one shoot at a night-time sound and light show with minimal reading of the documentation, so using the automatic settings only, and the results were everything I was expecting. I'm looking forward to understanding more about the manual control features so I can bracket exposures etc.

Ich bin mit dem Fotoapparat sehr glücklich. Ganz ohne Anleitung konnte ich mit der Kamera nicht zurecht kommen, mit dem entsprechenden Benutzerhandbuch im AppStore und ein paar Videos online war es kein Thema. Ich kann die Kamera wirklich empfehlen!

Excellent camera. Bought to replace another bridge camera. Real breakthrough in photo quality. I've barely moved off auto mode and am already getting great results. Let down by the useless Image Edge Mobile software used to transfer photos to phone by wi-,fi.

J'ai dit bon "couteau suisse" parce que cet appareil couvre une focale depuis 24mm jusqu'à 600mm. Le revers de la médaille est un petit capteur et parfois une qualité moyenne de photo, heureusement que DXO fait des miracles.

I'm an amateur wildlife photographer and have owned a SONY RX10M4 since 2017. It's the ideal camera for me and continues to be far superior to any other bridge cameras! I've been waiting for an RX10M5 for the past two years but have heard that Sony is discounting the range and has already ceased production of the RX10M4. I bought the new camera before it's impossible to find one!

I have this camera for 2 weeks, not really used it yet except a few shots in the garden. I wanted a point and shoot camera that had a lot of other features that I could use when I wanted to but I was not forced to use. The Rx10 seems to fit the bill. The few shots I have taken are great and it’s very easy to use. The auto focus is very good as easy to setup and use. It is a heavy camera my previous SLR was not as heavy .

Great all-in-one carry about, with caveats

The tiny sensor and tiny, for it's capabilities, lens do have some slight drawback in terms of sensitivity and noise, especially with equivalent apertures of f/7.1~11, but, and it's a huge BUT, this camera is small, light, and provides a real alternative to carrying and chopping and changing between a suite of lenses - I know as I have an a99ii, and a77ii, and numerous Zeiss and Sony lenses - about seven plus a TC. Welcome to the world of extreme crop formats. 2.727x crop compard to full frame 35mm. Small "equivalent" apertures, mean much bigger depth of fields than the numbers on the barrel suggest, for better or for worse. The colours are great. The burst speed is amazing. There's not much here to not like! Probably the only sin so far noticed is the tripod mount. The 1/4" screw hole is way too close to the back of the camera, and almost any plate used will apply pressure on an unsupported plastic ledge. Word of warning - use the tripod mount sparingly and with extreme caution. Other than that, wow, what a great tool, even now, about 8 years since launch, it still has no equal - not even from Sony...!

Very capable camera. For the price I am surprised they do not supply a separate battery charger. The RAW files that the camera uses is not supplied with any software to read them for my editing software. Will update review when used the camera a little more

Ein fantastisches Objektiv bis 600mm. Griffige Ringe für Zoom und Schärfe, einstellbar in der Drehrichtung. Einziges Manko ist das nur sehr begrenzt schwenkbare Display. Kopplung mit Handy für Tagging funktioniert schnell und reibungslos. Warum es bei Video nicht nutzbar ist bleibt allerdings ein Rätsel. Die Kamera ist als Videokamera sehr gut nutzbar, der Zoom funktioniert übrigens über einen Stellmotor was ein weiches Ein- und Auszoomen ermöglicht.

For years i have used DSLR's with an array of lenses which required a whole back pack to carry round with me, and really were impractcal to carry to remote locations for wildlife photography that i enjoy. I read some reviews and watched some youtube videos on RX10 M4 with some sceptisims, thinking that in no way could this compact all in one camera, give me results like the large kits i was used to carrying round, but i was wrong. After using the camera now for a few weeks, and taking it out on locations, i have had great results in both the useability of the camera, and the images it produces. I cant recomend this camera enough to anybody that may have lost the love for their photography through the need to lug bags of gear with them. This really does perform, and has given me that bug back to get out and enjoy capturing images of our natural worls.

After many years of lugging a Canon 5D mk3 and various lenses around I traded the whole lot in for the RX10 4. Very happy with the performance of this camera. Focusing and tracking for wildlife are excellent, it had no problem locking on to a pond skater and producing a nice sharp image. Great for travel and wildlife and perfect for surfing "frozen action" shots. Compares very well with other bridge cameras, I hope that production is continued or replaced with a mk5
