I really really want to use the WiFi features but apparently the software broke with iOS8. Please update your software Sony! Otherwise so far I love it. I had an RX-100 for 2 years. Just upgraded to the model 3. That in itself is a glowing review because if I didn't like the RX-100 series I wouldn't have been willing to upgrade.

We got this camera in 20150505 and it's currently 20170117. I'm writing to offer this up in hopes it might be of some benefit to those considering one. The operating system for the camera is quite complex. Granted, considering I come from a film background, for years having used a top of the line competitor's camera, I learned about f-stops, shutterspeeds, exposure values and ISO and so a jump into the foray of things digital was, for me the second digital camera we owned. The first was a point and shoot. This camera, the Sony RX1003M is hardly a simple point and shoot. The imaging technology is excellent as would be expected however, the operating system is challenging and hardly intuitive at all. There are many videos on youtube that can be viewed and I suggest watching as many as possible. I suspect other manufacturers have similar problems. It would be useful if Sony had a series of video tutorials on this camera. The camera as I said is excellent for what its capabilities are. But if you want to set up the camera using Manual settings be prepared for let's see, using mathematical combinations 10 modes x 118 Menu Items! Meaning if you factor this out there are 118 menu items possible (not in reality) factorial. So for you mathematicians out there, correct me if I'm wrong, that means (118x10)! different possibilities. Still, all in all the camera is truly amazing considering one eventually begins to grasp its capabilities. The problem is how to set up the camera with the way one wants to make photographs since it has so many wonderful features. The other problem is recalling exactly where everything is in the event one wishes to 'tinker' with things like shutterspeed, ISO, f-stops and so on. For example finding the photographer can set up the 'control ring' which can be set to govern f-stops or aperture and other things is a challenge. Finding that the Menu button brings up icons like the Gear icon and then on page 4 of the Gear icon, finding Custom Key settings and then clicking on Shutter Speed gives the photographer the option to select it, or Aperture or Creative Style (I thought Creativity was in the eye of the photographer). But given the complexity of choices and how much is possible with this camera at best it is a challenge for users to remember all it is capable of doing. Clearly the developers are attempting to appeal to as many markets as possible. It should appeal to those who are familiar with the Sony product line and also to very advanced digital photographers. All in all this is an excellent camera. The technology is first rate. The camera feels solid and seems responsive and yet it is light and appealing to me and would seem the ideal camera to carry around. It's WiFi abilities are amazing. But again, this requires considerable tinkering once the cell phone operating system is aligned with its Sony Play Memories software, which can be put on the phone, desktop or tablet in accordance with the operating system. My experience was with the Android system on the HTC 626 Desire Cell Phone. The ability to turn the phone into a WiFi hot spot the phone can recognize was somewhat challenging but do-able. The camera's logic seems convoluted and deviates from historical film photography with its many nuances. It is a great camera if you need one to carry around with great still and movie capabilities. Just be prepared to spend a lot of time learning your way around the ropes. Perhaps upwards of 1000 hours. At least that was my experience. And consider this. My view is based on my experience as an amateur. Pros no doubt will have their opinions. Considering all the work that went into its design and production, the quality of the electronics and the legendary quality of the Zeiss lens and the machining involved, it is a first rate camera.

The latest version is the Mk7 which was launched in 2019, which makes this little camera a lot behind the curve. The biggest difference with the Mk3 is the zoom and the screen, both considerably better in the Mk7. The Mk3 is however a superb little camera with most of the features and spec of the Mk7, but at a VERY much lower cost.

Seit 3 Wochen erst im Besitz der kamera, bisher zufrieden mit Qualität und Möglichkeiten. Leider klappt das Senden von Fotos auf mein Smartphone nicht- obwouhl beide Geräte miteinander über WIfi verbunden sind. ielleicht kann mir jemand einen Tipp geben, was ich noch probieren könnte.Dann hätte sich die Sony 100 §M echt gelohnt.

In den 4 Monaten die ich die Kamera vor der ersten Reparatur hatte, war ich von der Qualität der Bilder, v.A. die detailtreue bei Fotos in vollem Zoom begeistert. Was mich dann schwer von Sony enttäuscht hat, war das eine Kamera, die doppelt so teuer wie alle meine bisherigen Digitalkameras war, so schnell einen Defekt hat. Zudem bei einem Teil, dass meiner Meinung völlig unnötig ist und ich gar nicht benütze (Elektronischer Sucher). Eigentlich habe ich extra eine Sony gekauft, weil ich bisher nur gute Erfahrungen mit Kameras der Marke hatte.

j'avais un Sony RX 100 acheté il y a plus de 15 ans, qui est tombé en panne (a chaque fois que le l'ouvre il se referme) j'ai donc décidé de reprendre un Sony RX 100 M3, qui parait encore plus performant, tout en étant aussi compact et qui me permet de réutiliser la même carte mémoire ainsi que la batterie le chargeur et la sacoche.

I bought this as I wanted a good compact camera for an upcoming trip. Image quality was paramount over a long optical zoom. Nice wide angle and fast lens, pop up viewfinder and more modes than you can shake a stick at. So far the images have been crystal clear and pin sharp.

Bought this camera after reading other reviews as I needed a small camera for travel and family functions etc, one you can easily carry around with you instead of my bulky DSLR camera, and I have to say this takes great photos and easy to transfer to phone etc, no fuss point and shoot with manual settings if you want more options, black&white photos are excellent, early days but looking forward to more opportunities to use this fab little camera.

Diese Bewertung wird in wenigen Worten wohl nur das wiederholen, was andere, zum Teil schon Jahre früher, auch festgestellt haben: Diese Kamera liefert Spitzenqualität beim Fotographieren,die Videokompetenz ist gut, aber nicht derart fortentwickelt, wie bei Nachfolge-Versionen der RX100-Serie. Das aber brauche ich nicht und akzeptiere gerne, dass meine RX100M3 auch ein paarhundert Euro preiswerter ist als die nachfolgenden Video-Künstler. Sie ist ein bewährter Klassiker für ambitioniefrte Fotografen.

Meine langjährige Begleiterin DSC-HX20V, deren Telemechanismus Anfang dieses Jahres leider nicht mehr richtig funktionierte, konnte nach Aussage von SONY nicht mehr repariert werden. So habe ich mich für die neue RX100 III entschieden. Hat mich die DSC-HX20V schon immer begeistert, so bin ich von RX100 III regelrecht fasziniert. Einfach fantastisch!! Mehr kann ich dazu erst mal nicht sagen. Das Einzige was mir an dieser Kamera bedauerlicherweise wirklich fehlt, ist das GPS!! Deshalb die Frage: Gibt es einen GPS-Empfänger, den ich mit der RX100 III koppeln kann, um die GPS-Daten in die Aufnahmen zu übertragen - gegebenen falls auch über "PlayMemories Home"? Eine Synchronisation zwischen Kamera und GPS-Empfänger (z.B. Smartphone) wäre dazu natürlich ebenfalls erforderlich. Eventuell ähnlich ImageApp von Panasonic.

This was a breakthrough camera when it came out. Sony has iterated but not improved much on subsequent models. In some ways, sadly, mobile phones have supplanted this line now. But it was great initially, except they never updated it correctly. As a recurring theme.

I purchased the camera from Photospecialist on 20/02/2024. After reading the specification for the camera it appeared exactly what I was looking for. One of key functions I required was to be able to transfer images from the camera to a smartphone using the NFC function. I tried for hours trying to set this up but could not get it to work. The manual stated that the Playmemories app needed to be installed on the smartphone, after checking Google Play store it stated that the IME app had replaced Playmemories. I assumed (wrongly) that the IME app would allow me set up the image transfer function. I contacted Sony Customer Support and was then told that needed the Creators app (Case number 26737107 refers). I spent another few hours trying to set the function up without success. I contacted Customer Support again and was then told the function would not work with Playmemories. At this stage I was annoyed that I had purchased a camera and one of the key functions would not work. I checked with Photospecialist who I purchased the camera from and they were not aware of the issue. I then checked with a number of online stockists and none were aware of this issue. I contacted Customer Services again and stated that I belief Sony were at fault for not making it clear that this function did work on the DSC RX100M3. They confirmed that the function did work DSC RX100M4 and I asked if they could arrange with Photospecialist to supply me with DSC RX100M4 at nil cost and I would return the DSC RX100M3 to Photospecialist. They stated that the issue would need to be escalated and would need to wait for one day for a decision. Today 19/03/2024 Customer Services have advised that this would not be possible and I would need to go back to the seller (Photospecialists). I have contacted Photospecialists who are very embarrassed by the issue, they do not have a DSC R100M in stock but have offered DSC R100VA at a reduced cost. This would mean me having to spend £200. I feel that Sony could have shown some goodwill for all of the inconvenience I have been caused for what is a very serious product management issue.

deuxième appareil, après la douloureuse perte de mon premier RX 100... Douloureuse. Lr Mark 3 ne peut pas me décevoir. Pour l'instant qq prises de vues en intérieur, type nature-morte et c'est un plaisir renouvelé. Suis parti au Maghreb ds les jours qui viennent pour des images de nuit et je reste persuadé que le Mark 3 (très à l'aise en lumière réduite) me remplira de bonheur. Mon avis ? Enthousiaste.

Not the newest of the RX100 stable but for me this is very much the value sweet spot. A little more reach at the telephoto end would be nice and the soap-like body is crying out for the aftermarket stick-on grip that should be supplied from new but small niggles aside this is a remarkable combinate of super-sharp lens, speedy processing and effective 1-inch sensor that displays surprisingly little noise in low light for a 20.1-megapixel unit. Throw in the pop-up viewfinder that magically appears from the body and then stows away to allow impressive pocket-ability and this is a proper powerhouse.

Appareil utilisé depuis de long mois, il donne d’excellente photo en plein jour, la nuit il faut un bon éclairage ou le flash. Il rame si on s’obstine a shooter en raw+jpeg, il faut le mettre en automatique ou mode A jpeg seul pour qu’il soit rapide comme la foudre. La couleur sony est top, son amplitude de zoom suffisante pour la vie quotidienne et les portrait. Il autorise les photo hdr ce que j’aime bcp en paysage. J’ai recour a la personnalisation des bouton pour mettre la mesure sur le rond central du pad arriere et le focus reste sur le declencheur mi course. 1/ on mesure 2/ on recadre 3/ on shoot. On peut aussi regler le af/on (back button focus) mais la prise en main est trop bizarre ( tres tres petits bouttons)

La qualité des images est là, mais il faut le maîtriser avant de se lancer, autrement il est assez intelligent pour vous permettre des écarts. J'apprécie le viseur pour des travaux de précision et le flash intégré pour des appoints de lumière. Extrêmement compact, il se loge dans le creux de la main ou dans la poche sans encombre. Prévoir des piles, car il consomme pas mal.

Das ist ein Backup zu meiner großen Sony. Absolut praktisch in den Bergen und für Bilder für zwischendurch. Akku hält lange und die Bedienung gleich wie mit der Großen. Weiter braucht man nur eine APP was natürlich auch ein sehr großer Vorteil. Habe jetzt 8 Tage benutzt und der optische Zoom ist super. Der digitale Zoom ist auch sehr git, da die hohe Auflösung zu keinen Verlusten führt.

Très content de cet appareil photo pour faire des petites vidéos de voyage. La prise en main est facile. J'ai opté pour le format XAVC S qui donne un film très fluide. La contrepartie, c'est la nécessité de disposer d'une carte SDXC (64go ou128go) de taille suffisante. Les films, une fois téléchargés, peuvent être compressés d'un rapport x 10 ou plus sans perte de qualité (ex: handbrake) L'optique ZEISS apporte une réelle plus value dans la qualité des photos et images.

J’en avais assez de porter mon matériel photo en voyage ou en vacances. J’apprécie la compacité de cet appareil et la qualité des images. Comme je possède un Sony Alpha 7 je suis familiarisé avec les menus. Le zoom est limité à 70 mm en équivalent plein format 24 x 36 mais c’est un objectif très lumineux, ce que j.apprécie beaucoup.

Vor 10 Tagen bekommen. Schön lichtstark! Brauche anscheinend jetzt deutlich seltener den Blitz in geschlossenen Räumen. Hauptziel erreicht :-) Jede Menge Einstellmöglichkeiten, aber auch Automatik falls gewünscht. Etwas schade, dass man den Bildausschnitt nach der Aufnahme nicht zuschneiden kann

Bought this to replace a digital slr as wanted something a little lighter and given I bought my slr a year ago, hopefully better specs. We’ll, I got both, smaller( by a mile!) and specs far better than the bulky slr I had. 20 mpixels a great lens and all the normal extras. Recommend

Diese Kamera ist schon 10 Jahre alt und teuer! Viel Funktionen sind extrem schlecht bewertet … z.B. die Apps -teuer und funktionieren nicht … die Pflege der Apps wurden eingestellt ..das zum Thema Arroganz. Es ist eine Unverschämtheit..! Außerdem eine an Respektlosigkeit gegenüber den Kunden, ist die Betriebsanleitung zur Kamera. Aus den vorgenannten Gründen nisten die Kamera viel zu teuer !

Great upgrade from a smartphone

I wanted a camera that was a noticeable upgrade from a smartphone, portable, and didn't cost a fortune. I did a lot of research and went for this model in the end - and the results I have obtained even with my basic and limited knowledge of photography have far exceeded my expectations. If point and click is more your thing, this also does a superb job of that - and the camera knows more than I do at the moment when comparing my manual pictures to the settings the camera chooses on auto. I have also compared this side by side with an expensive DSLR, and whilst a good photographer would achieve better results with the bigger camera, for me the comparison was favourable for my RX and what I was trying to achieve. I don't intend to take up photography as a hobby, just obtain a greater understanding of it to take better pictures, and needed the equipment to enable me to do that - but this would be a great stepping stone for someone that did want to do that - before making the jump to a more complex and expensive product. You can make full adjustment around the exposure triangle, and the menu system is very easy to use. The zoom is not that big, so if that's important you may want to consider stepping up to models higher in this range, but for someone like me - using it on trips at home and abroad it's perfect - giving me control over the settings, and avoiding the horrible distortion that can occur on camera phones.

great pocket camera

Fits in a pocket, so I use it more than I would a large SLR camera. Simple to use as a 'point and shoot' camera but with added features as well. Having a viewfinder as well as the screen is a huge bonus, especially in bright sunlight.

Remek kicsi gép

Az első Sony Cybershot gépemet 17 éve vettem. Megtartottam volna, de az idő, sajnos eljárt felette. Az új gép ua. méretű, tehát nem okozott meglepetést a kicsi mérete. Kézitáskában lehet tartani, súlya alig van. A funkciógombok csak gombocskák, finomabb kéz kell hozzájuk. Többet tud a réginél, de ezért bonyolultabb is. A képek letöltése a laptopomra sokkal profibb, csak telepíteni kell a Sony appját. A kézikönyvét is le lehet tölteni, most éppen a mobilomon van, bármikor olvasgathatom. Kell egy kis idő majd, hogy legalább az alapokat begyakoroljam. Turistáskodáshoz tökéletes. Nagyon szép képeket készít, a videózás is jól ment, ezért is vettem meg. Remélem ez is legalább 17 évet megél.

Um nicht immer die schwere DSLR/SLT Kamera mit Schleppe zu müssen, war ich auf der Suche nach einer kompakten Kamera mit guter Auflösung und einer ebensolchen Abbildungsleistung. Mit der Sony RX100 habe ich die passende Kamera für mich gefunden. Wertiges Gehäuse, tolle Fotos, viele automatische und manuelle Einstellmöglichkeiten, genau das, was ich gesucht habe.

Ich habe mir dieses Produkt gekauft, da es in vielen Testberichten und renomierten Zeitschriften immer sehr gute Bewertungen erhalten hat. Die Quialität und Verarbeitung ist hervorragend und die Kamera macht sehr schöne Bilder. Ich würde sie wieder kaufen, obwohl sie schon lange auf dem Markt ist. Das einzige was in dieser Preisklasse fehlt, ist ein anständiges und gut geschriebenes Handbuch und kein Büchlein von einigen Seiten.

Pourquoi acheter les modèles plus récents alors que celui-ci est le meilleur pour la photo (grandes ouvertures en 24-70mm) contrairement aux derniers modèles avec zoom plus puissant mais quasi inutile en utilisation standard. Par contre si vous voulez faire de la vidéo de meilleure qualité, privilégiez le Mark IV et ultérieur... Moi je n'en fais pas beaucoup et déjà avec ce Mark III la qualité full HD est bonne. A bon entendeur, salut ! ;) Prévoir une seconde batterie, un grip et une poignée-trépied Sony si vous pouvez vous le permettre car avec le tout ça peut remplacer (en qualité) un reflex pro de plus de 2 kg alors que ce compact (le meilleur du marché) tient dans une poche...

Just fancied a smaller camera to my brilliant Canon Powershot.....early days but good results however still need to handle the complexity available on this camera . Basically I just want to have a point and shoot and a decent telephoto . Camera delivers but would prefer a slightly better telephoto . . But good price including cade and grip so overall very pleased .

J'ai acheté cet article depuis peu et j'ai donc encore beaucoup à découvrir. La prise en main de base est facile ainsi que le transfert de photo sur un PC et sur un mobile. Le version auto est facile à utiliser pour un béotien de la photo et le menu est simple d'accès et offre beaucoup de réglages. A suivre dans quelques mois

Obwohl die Kamera schon einige Jahre auf dem Markt ist, und noch immer recht teuer, ist sie besser als erwartet. Liest man sich Tests und Vergleiche durch, ist die RX100M3 immer die zu wählende Kamera (oder die VII). Meine ersten Tests mir der Kamera waren mehr als zufriedenstellend, sogar die Aufnahmen des Sternenzelts waren hervorragend.

Die Kamera wird seid einigen Jahren, bevorzugt von meiner Frau, genutzt. Überwiegend wird der Automatik-Modus angewandt. Die Fotos sind super. Mit meiner A 6400 nur schwer zu toppen. Wir haben die Anschaffung nie bereut. Ein ganz tolle Kamera.
