BDP-S300 Firmware update not working

Hi,

Am trying to update my BluRay BDP-S300 from FW3.70 to latest 6.20.

 

Followed the instructions at http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/BDP-S300/downloads/BDPS300_v620 - twice (and now have 2 CDs with the .ISO file).

 

Put the CD in the BluRay player and it simply says on the digital display on the front of the player DATA DISC.

 

After 30 mins waiting, no change!

 

Please don't say attach to the internet with an ethernet cable - the cable won't work over the distance required from the router to the BluRay player and moving it closer isn't an option.

    Hi boredterrier,

    welcome to Questions & Answers..

     

    Did you double click on the downloaded UPDATE_BDPS300_VER0620.exe file to extract the UPDATE_BDPS300_VER0620.ISO image before burning to the CD.?

     

    It mentions in the instructions that disc name should be “BDPV-11620” if successfully created, does your state this.?

     

    What software did you use to create the ISO disc.?

    Many thanks for replying.

     

    Yes to extracting the file to create the .ISO which was then burnt to the disc.

     

    Yes to naming the CD BDPV-11620.  Also tried with a DVD (and now have 3 copies!).

     

    I used Vista 32-bit Windows Explorer to burn the CD and the DVD.

     

    I wondered if I should try an earlier firmware update before going with this latest one.  Only problem is that I can't find one despite extensive searching.

     

    Any assistance gratefully received.
