So have a look. If you didn't drop the tv on the floor or hit it with something that would potentially damage the panel and the tv was working fine before, I'd say you probably should try to change the t-con board. I will be cheaper than to pay some shop to take it away and have a look at it and then try to charge you a lot of money to fix it. If your tv is out of warranty and Sony don't want to help you, you have nothing to loose. Good luck.

Hi Everyone. If you look at my post from November 16, 2011, I posted my pics there of my Sony tv that was ready to be thrown away. After extensive reseach, however, I managed to order a part of the tv that I thought it was broken. Unscrewed the back of the tv and slowly worked to the electronic board part that I had to replace. After about 2 hours and about 60 pounds spent to order the part, my tv was working just fine.

The money was well spent as the repair shop was going to charge me about 70 pounds just to take the tv to their shop and assess it. Then maybe like 700 - 1000 pounds to replace the panel, as they told me on the phone. But there was nothing wrong with the panel. So before you throw your tv away, look online for people with a similar problem and see if they managed to fix it like me. Order the part of find someone or some shop that sells the same model as you have for spare parts, order the electronic tv board that you need that might be causing it, and try to fix it. Worth the try, as I managed to fix mine.

Few months ago, I started to have greenish tone appearing in the left bottom corner. Almost rectangle in shape. Thought some other board might have been the cause, so I managed to order another, different board i thought might be causing this, but the new board didn't work. So I thought I will put my old one in and live with the greenish tone for a few months until I have money to buy some new tv and guess what. The tv works again. I am guessing it was probably some connection or even the dust that has been collecting inside the telly, which I managed to clean off while I was changing the boards.

So sometimes, there is a quick, and cheap fix with our troubled Sony tvs. But I guess some other customers might have to pay a lot of money to get their tv fixed, as Sony customer service is very bad.

As many people on here I have been buying Sony products for a long time and believed Sony has the best products out there, but not anymore. So for anyone, who even considers buying anything from Sony, specially TV, please don't. You will save yourself a lot of hours on the phone with Sony customer service and save a lot of money.

Sony Bravia KDL-46X4500 LED TV Horizontal Lines Problem

Hey. I got the same tv and model. Probably for the past 4 years or so since I bought it. I had the same problem as you. It got so bad that I was about to throw the tv and buy a new one. Then I did a bit of more digging and so it looks like there are so many people around with different problems with sony tvs.

I tried one last thing. I bought a replacement board

Sony 46" LCD TV kdl-46x4500 Part 460FLC6LV0.1 (280754163438)

The company that was selling it has finished the sale already but try to buy it from USA. Just look at the picture and then look for the same image on ebay or somewhere where they sell it.

I am not engineer or electronic enthusiast and I have managed to do the repair all by myself with a help of my friend. Paid about 40 pounds for the board and the problem got fixed. Much easier than buying another 2000 pounds tv or paying 70 pounds for someone to come and have a look at the tv and then pay so much more when they try to fix it. Most shops would tell you that it is the panel which costs almost the same as a new tv. I gave this board replacement a shot and it worked. Worth the money. It had no problems with tv for about 10 months.

Unfortunatelly I started to have another problem, yealoow haze in left bottom corner. Unrelated to the problem before or the board I replaced I think. I done some digging and will order fbu board to replace for another 40 pounds and see if that is going to fix it. It shows how Sony tv's are so bad and noone should ever buy any sony tv in the future. I know I won't. But until the tv I have completely brakes, I will try to fix it for as little money as possible. Good luck. Let me know how you did.

This is the picture of my current problem with the tv:

BTW, the board you need I think it's called T-CON board. It sits at the back of the screen, in the middle, at the top. It is under all the boards and pannels at the back of the tv when you take the plastic cover off. It will take you a while to get to it and have to unplug lots of wires and unscrew a lot of boards and parts to get to it. So remember where everything goes.

Message was edited by: pvit1402

Do all Sony LCD screens only last 2 years?

I had also bought a Sony tv less than 3 years ago. I got online deal at that time, and bought the newest Sony tv with their 4 colour LED full backlight, the KDL 46X4500. In the past few months I started noticing some horizontal lines, like stuck pixels on the left part and right middle part of the screen. At that time I called the Sony Customer Centre which wasn't helpful at all, and when I told them that there are thousands of people with the same problem of the same tv that I have they denied it completely. They said that forums and private chats can't be taken seriously and the only thing they can do is to give my number to a authorized Sony repair centre. I spoke to them about the problem and they said it is probably the LCD screen and needs to be completely replaced. With work, lcd screen and delivery the cost of it would be almost 1200 pounds. They adviced me it is best if I just get a new TV. Incredible, isn't it? I had the tv only 2,5 years before the first issues with the screen started to show and I paid about 2000 pounds for that telly at that time. I have always regarded Sony TVs as the best on the market but after this experience I am switching to some other company. So however wants to buy any Sony product, don't. You better off with some other brand.

Here are some pictures of how my TV looks now at the moment. Have a look and laugh.
