Thanks for the replies all.

went out and bought asus tf700 via amazon and i am extremely impressed. beats the tablet s on every front. so far as to say that in the next couple of years when i get around to replacing/upgrading my electrical goods i will NOT be buying any more sony equipment.

i knew exactly what needed replacing on the tablet s but sony insisted i still paid them to evaluate the damage. unhappy to say the least when told that the screen would cost £240 with no accompanying instructions for me to follow. give up and bought myself this cracking piece of kit i am using now. suffice to say that there is life outside the sony bubble and i certainly will be exploring the wider world.

Thanks for the reply. I am in discussion with Sony about the repair. They estimate the cost will be nearly the price of buying a new one, trying... and hoping..... to get this reduced. I have over r10,000 pounds worth of Sony gear in my houses and do not want this to ruin my brand loyalty. To be fair nothing has ever gone wrong before but now that something has, albeit my (dogs) fault, I do not want it to spoil things. Fingers crossed.

short press vol down and then power at same time, goes into warm boot for android then choose one of the options.... I seem to remember someone telling me this over 12 months ago, so it may be vol up. good luck

Tablet s body/case

The dog has had its fun withmy tablet s whilst I was out and has chewed the case/body and smashed the screen. Has anyone had a need for a replacement, and if so how much did it cost? And it's the case not the dog I want replacing..

well done with adding the mail, but then whythis wasn't included in the first was a bit of a puzzler to me. does anyone know how, or indeed if at all possible, to change the automatic shortcut touch at the bottom of the screen layout? I would like yo be able to add my own regularly used shortcut as opposed to those provided.

well, first impressions are good. two big things for me have been the increase, or rather lack of, use of the battery. it seems to have better efficiency . also- and this was a big bug bear for many after buying their tablet- the wifi connection now seems resolved. I like many others had a problem with the wifi initially , then I started to use my sensation xe as a wireless tether, now everything is tickety-boo! some changes, better in my view,with the layout- although where has the screen selection gone when long pressing any of the screens... I did prefer this option. have fun all.

at last! anyway just loaded it and so I am off for a play .... hopefully I won't have all the problems my sensation xe has had and so fingers crossed.

I must say that not everything that is stored on your tablet s is indeed able to be thrown via dlna, I have only been able to throw pics and some music and some vids taken on phone (transferred via btooth), none of my stored films have been able to be thrown. I cannot explain it but there you go.

hi all, pardon my rant earlier , but this tablet certainly tried my patience . anyway I now have a solution that I am happy with, that is I no longer have dropouts when connecting . it will not suit everyone but it resolves my issues. for some reason I have yet to have my wifi dropped when using my htc desire as a hotspot. why it doesnt drop this connection even if my phone is in the other room whereas it dropped it like hot spud with my isp router I do not know. but there you go folks, i am sorted. no more frustration . receiving a good 4mb, sometimes slightly less with this system so I am happy... make sure you have true all you can eat data though, like I have with 3. off to shop to get the new sensation xe that has dlna capability and also htc do a dlna box to make older tvs dlna compatible . happy days.

Seeing as the wifi problems have been around for quite a while now, and no real move forward on the side of Sony I propose that they should offer a complete refund or actually get the damn thing fixed. Even when next to my router it drops the signal, move away from it and there is virtually no chance of a reliable connection . Motorola Xoom has no problems whatsoever with my wifi, neither does my HTC Desire. Why oh why has Sony let their fantastic name be sullied with this problem .

I am seriously looking at a refund, and I will probably change my future product brand also. I was really looking forward to my Xmas present, only to have my hopes dashed with such shoddy customer relations. I have not received any rsponse to my complaints.

Trading standards may need to get involved. Get it sorted and quick Sony.

this may not work for all, but it has for me so far... touch wood. wifi analyser from farproc on marketplace has done the job for me. hope this works.

hello all, I accept this may be will not work for everyone, but as I have used this app on my htc desire annd having had no problems in 18 months I decided to try this when I had problems with my tablet s wifi connection. It's wifi analyser from farproc. Touch wood I have suffered no problems with wifi since I have added this to my tab. hope it works for you, good luck.
