No he recibido ninguna respuesta de "VitaminaD". Tampoco he recibido ninguna respuesta de un foro internacional de Sony donde también mandé la pregunta.

Ya he reseteado la tablet y vuelve a funcionar bien. El problema ahora es que tengo que reinstalar todas las aplicaciones. De los datos tenía copia de seguridad.

Llevo bastante tiempo utilizando mi tablet y no he tenido problemas. Hace también bastante tiempo que la actualice a la versión 4.0.3 de Android.

Sin embargo, hacer 3 días arraque la tablet y el escritorio comenzo a hacer cosas raras: pprpadea contínuamente y no saca ningún icono de aplicaciones.

Sin embargo, si consigues ajecutar una aplicación, de forma indirecta, la aplicación funciona (aparentemente bien). ¿Como ejecuto aplicaciones? Pues entrando por el menú desplegable vertical de la esquina infereior derecha, el cual me da acceso a los ajustes, al correo, o a cualquier apliación que se haya actualizado y esté en la lista. También tengo wifi y 3G.

He reseteado (reset blando) y no ha pasado nada. He quietao la tarjeta SD de ampliación y la de 3, y no cambia nada. Sólo me falta hacer un reset "duro" (dejar la configuración de fábrica), pero tengo muchas aplicaciones instaladas y seguro que pierdo datos de interés.

¿A alguien se le ocurre qué puede estar pasando o que puedo probar antes de la solución final que sería el reset a fabrica?

Nota: intentar ir al menú de aplicaciones del la esquina superior dereche no funciona.

Corrupted Desk on tablet S

Hello,

I've been working flawlessly with my tablet S for a long time. Two days ago, I switched on the tablet and the main desk-board began flashing and I didn't present any icon.

I can run some applications using and indirect way (I can access "Preferences" from the pop-up menu on the right-down corner of the main screen), but when I come back to the "Home" board view it keeps on flashing.

I've try a reset (nothing happens). I took out the external SD-card and the phone card: same behaviour.

I'm thinking of doing a total reset (back to factory conditions) but that would be the last chance (many applications and data to back-up, if possible).

Does anybody know what's going on here with my table or could shed some light into this nasty problem.

Hombre, lo del volumen estoy de acuerdo en que es cuestión de gustos (aunque esta tablet no se distingue frente a otras por su buen sonido), pero lo del cargador del coche, para algunos de nosotros, sí que es algo importante. Vamos, que si un dispositivo de este tipo, que con el GPS y la 3G chupa mucha batería, no está pensado para ser llevado en coche, entonces no se en qué estaba pensando Sony.

Además, cosas como es cargador de coche no son achacables a que el comprador no valoró bien el equipo, dependen de la política comercial de la empresa. Mira como para iPad sí que sacan todo tipo de "accesorios" (sean más o menos útiles). A eso se le llama valor añadido de marca, y Sony parece que no lo tiene.

Además, añadiría la chapuza que hicieron con los cables USB. Resulta que:

- Hacen falta cables USB de un tipo especial para poder conectar un lapiz de memoria externo o los mandos de la Playstation, y no lo distribuyen al comprar el producto!!.

- Sólo los vende Sony (y a un precio desorbitado).

- Cuando vas a comprarlos a Sony se han agotado.

- Menos mal que se les agotaron, tuve la oportunidad de buscarlos en eBay y encontrarlos 5% veces más baratos! (5€ con gastos de envío incluidos, de la marca Samsung). Y funciona muy bien.

- Para rematar, en la tienda Sony de Madrid me taron el pelo con el cablecito (me dijeron que si, que no,... al final me hicieron perder el tiempo para nada).

New facts:

I've tried to connect my tablet to the PC using "File Expert"... and it works!! I don't know why "File Manager HD" doesn't.

On the other hand, the bad point is that "File Expert" doesn't see the "\mnt\sdcard2" device and I cannot copy directly my PC files to the sdcards2 (I need 2 steps): !!Nobody is perfect!!! (But some gadgets less than others ;-).

I have some comments:

1) I am trying to set up FIle Manager HD for "network" capability but I didn't managed: On my Windows-7 PC I shared a folder, then I tried to set up the network connection in File Manager HD (one of the configuration options from the drop-down menu at the upper-right corner). I choose "search" (the local network), it finds the IPs for the active PCs in the net but clicking on the appearing icons produce a conection error. Any clue about this error?

2) I am considering the option of installing a NAS drive. What's the recommended Android client application for that service?

Answering your question:

Very often I need to transfer files from the PC to my tablet. I know 3 ways of doing so:

1) Via a USB pen-drive: not possible at the moment till I receive the OTG adapter cable.

2) Via Dropbox (or similar cloud application): In the case of Dropbox, the Andriod dropbox functionality is not flexible (and efficient) enough for frequent copy/move operations. Recently I have discovered Box, but I haven't used it intensively enough to asses it.

3) Via direct tablet-to-PC connection: very easy and efficient.

Hi Padster,

Using "File Manager HD" I can navigate till root ('\') folder and I can see everything,

When connecting the tablet to the PC (Windows 7), it shows me an USB Storage icon (as an entry point to the device), and from that point I enter into "/mnt/sdcard" in the tablet file system. I cannot get further up (or I come back to the Windows explorer icon entry point! (I expect I managed to explain myself properly).

I have just order one OTG cable by eBay (very cheap in deed: 4$!!).

On the other hand, talking about mounted devices recognition. When I connect my table to the PC, this one cannot see the external SD-card (\mnt\sdcard2). I did check that the SD-card is a FAT-32 (32GB) formated.

Is this a normal behaviour?

Sorry, but I don't know what an 'OTG' adaptor is. From your answer I presume the "offical" cable is special. I mean, the pin-age for the sockets (some electrical features) is special.

Could you, please, confirm me that (wherever I order the cable) I have to buy the "offcial" cable in order to get my tablet working properly?

Thanks (to you and the other people) for your answer.

I'm not using the "official" Sony cable (this is an annoying topic I wouldn't like to mix up here). It was "out of stock" at Sony shopping site when I needed it. Then, I work out an alternative using a "normal" [mini-usb<->male-USB] + [female-USB<->female-USB] adapter.

The cable seems to work OK as long as the tablet is recognized by my PC when connected to it. I've tried several USB-pen memories without success (FAT and FAT32). Browsing the tablet file system I cannot find any new device, or the mounted devices (under "\mnt" folder) are empty, appart from the internal SD-card (\mnt\sdcard) and an external (32-MB) SD-card I had already pluged in (\mnt\sdcard2).

Can anybody shed some light on this situation?

My tablet S doesn't recognize a memory pen-drive connected to the USB port. I cannot see any new device or mounted folder (and I'm using several memory management applications: "File Manager" and "File Expert").

How can I get my USB device connected?

Part of the problem is on my fault. I was confusing "/mnt/sdcard" and "/mnt/sdcard2". I think Android people should've chosen different name for the internal storage ;-).

"bennybuche", why do you prefer FE for dile system browsing instead of File Manager DH??

Anyway, thaks to your help I know how to access the external SD-card from my applications (except Dropbox ;-). But the general "memory manage" problem remains the same.

I've been told that Android 4 is going to some this point (and some others like multi-tasking). Do you know when is expected the Sony release for Tablet S?

Using File Expert only I cannot access the external SD-card (if that's my fault, I'll thank any help).

With respecto to Sony native apps or not:

1) I'm using Mantano epub manager and reader (not Sony) and I cannot make it "see" the external storage (also, any help will be welcome).

2) Neither Dropox can access the external SD-card

Hello,

I'd like to know how the whole Tablet S memory system works.

It seems like an external SD-card cannot be used as "main memory" device, it is only a seconday "mass memory" storage and no application can use it for working purposes (it is not even selectable for accesing data).

Even specialized applications like "File Managers" cannot see the card storage!!

Could anybody shed some light into this topic?

Is this situation going to change on some future Android version?
